Connecting with Deities: A Beginner's Guide to Connecting to Ancient Egypt

Connecting with Deities: A Beginner's Guide to Connecting to Ancient Egypt Have you ever felt a deep calling to connect with the divine? Are you drawn to the ancient Egyptian pantheon and curious about how to establish a connection with these powerful deities? In this beginner's guide, we will explore some tips and practices to help you on your journey of connecting with the Egyptian gods and goddesses. 1. Research and Learn: Before diving into deity worship, it's important to educate yourself about the specific deities you wish to connect with. Take the time to research their mythologies, attributes, and symbols. Understanding their mythology and history will deepen your connection and allow you to approach them with respect and reverence. 2. Create an Altar: Setting up a dedicated space for your deity can help create a sacred atmosphere for your practice. Choose a spot in your home where you can place statues, symbols, and offerings. Incorporate elements that are associated with the deity you are connecting with. For example, if you are connecting with Bastet, you may want to include cat figurines or images. Doing the basic research and learning the mythology, will help you with setting up this dedicated altar. 3. Offerings and Devotion: Deities appreciate offerings as a way of showing devotion and gratitude. Offerings can be as simple as lighting a candle or burning incense, or as elaborate as preparing a meal. Choose offerings that are meaningful to the deity you are connecting with. For example, Sekhmet may appreciate offerings of beer and dragon's blood incense. I have found, from me, she loves when I give her a shot of bourbon or gin. 4. Meditation and Prayer: Regular meditation and prayer can help you establish a deeper connection with the deities. Set aside dedicated time each day to sit in quiet contemplation, focusing your thoughts and intentions on the deity you wish to connect with. You can also recite prayers or mantras that are associated with the deity. I suggested getting a translated copy of the Egyptian Book of the Dead to help you setup a prayer or create a mantra. 5. Rituals and Celebrations: Participating in rituals and celebrations dedicated to the deities can be a powerful way to connect with them. Look for local pagan or witchcraft groups that may organize gatherings or create your own rituals at home. Celebrate festivals and holidays associated with the deities, such as the Festival of Bastet or the Festival of Osiris. Remember, connecting with deities is a personal and individual journey. Trust your intuition and follow your own path. Be patient and open to the signs and messages they may send you. With time and dedication, you will develop a deep and meaningful connection with the ancient Egyptian deities, enriching your spiritual practice and personal growth. As you embark on this journey, may the gods and goddesses guide and bless you on your path of magick and spirituality.
